Hello and welcome to my e-Portfolio. Here you will find a series of artifacts that demonstrate my journey my early years as a Children's Programmer at a local branch library, to being a Corporate Analyst with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and fi
Every semester in the Master's of Library and Information Science (MLIS) at the University of South Florida (USF) program I have learned exactly what the syllabus said that I would. And that is amazing! Every semester of the has also taught me things about my life, my career and myself that I never expected or imagined.
The truest version of me has always had a book in her hand. Too often with kool-aid stains, Diet Coke rings, or coffee spills across the pages. I always look at a person's book shelves to determine who they are.
Which makes it ironic that most of my books are now in electronic form. I still love to breathe in the scent of books - new books, well loved books, shiny books, all books. I have realized that always having a book available on my cell phone or laptop helps to keep me from destroying or losing my treasures.
Libraries are sacred, magical places. Today's libraries are more important than ever before. My journey at the University of South Florida has shown me the myriad of types of libraries and librarians in my MLIS degree. I realize that I am coming home and meeting the members of my tribe. Every day is more fulfilling than my experience utilizing my MBA.
I am a passionate believer in "Getting the community in the library and getting the library into the community." I want to utilize my MBA experience to leverage the limited resources available to libraries to get the most services and materials available into the institution. I want to open up new revenue streams and find new and innovative ways to connect to the community.
The 12-year-old girl inside of me, with her nose in a Madeleine L'Engle book, still squeals in delight every time I self-identify as a Librarian.
